The coastal town of Essaouira is an excellent destination for a day trip.
Essaouira is a charming, vibrant port and resort town on the Atlantic Ocean.
The Portuguese, French and Berber architecture frame the maze-like streets of Essaouira. The appeal of the town lies in the beautiful juxtaposition of the imposing Portuguese remparts and the rolling surf of the Atlantic.
At the heart of the town lies the harbour, fortified by the Portuguese, and is home to a large fishing fleet that ensures Essaouira’s fish restaurants are amongst the best in the country.
Essaouira is also famous for the wood carving of local artisans, who sell their wares in souqs beneath the remparts.
