Full description

Depart Marrakech at 9:00 AM for a meaningful cultural and culinary journey into the Moroccan countryside, towards the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. Enjoy a scenic drive through rural landscapes, with one or two photo stops along the way to admire traditional villages, farms, and daily Berber life far from the city.

Your destination is a traditional Berber village and a local women’s cooperative, where you will be warmly welcomed by the women of the village. This cooperative plays a vital role in supporting local families, providing women with a sustainable income while preserving ancestral culinary traditions passed down through generations.

During this hands-on experience, discover how traditional Moroccan couscous is made entirely from scratch. Learn how women carefully prepare couscous semolina using different natural ingredients such as barley, wheat, and corn, all sourced locally. Actively participate in the process, from preparing the semolina to cutting fresh seasonal vegetables and learning traditional cooking techniques.

The women will guide you step by step, explaining how couscous is traditionally rolled by hand, steamed, and assembled, with vegetables beautifully arranged over the semolina. The experience is suitable for vegetarians and non-vegetarians, as couscous can be prepared with vegetables only or with meat such as chicken or beef, depending on your preference.

After the workshop, sit down together to enjoy the home-cooked couscous meal you helped prepare, shared in a warm and friendly atmosphere that reflects genuine Moroccan hospitality.

By joining this experience, you are not only learning how couscous is made and cooked, but you are also directly supporting rural women and the local economy, contributing to responsible and sustainable tourism in Morocco.

In the afternoon, after this enriching cultural exchange, relax on the return drive to Marrakech, arriving inspired, satisfied, and with a deeper connection to Moroccan culture.
