This scenic road trip is a must for adventure seekers, culture enthusiasts, and nature lovers alike. Led by an experienced English-speaking guide, the tour offers two nights of unique accommodations, including one under the stars at a desert luxury camp in Merzouga, followed by another night in the breathtaking Dades Valley.
8-Hour Drive
Your adventure begins with an early breakfast at your hotel in Fes, followed by a pickup from your guide at 07:00 AM (winter) or 08:00 AM (summer). The journey takes you through the Saiss plains toward the Middle Atlas Mountains, where you’ll pass through Ifrane and Azrou. Along the way, you may spot Barbary apes and have time for photos.
After a stop for lunch in Midelt, continue across the Ziz River, driving past lush palm groves and towering kasbahs to Erfoud. Finally, you’ll arrive in Merzouga, where you’ll rest before embarking on a sunset camel ride across the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes.
As the sun sets, you’ll experience the shifting desert colors and arrive at your desert camp, where you’ll enjoy a traditional dinner, accompanied by local music from the nomads around the campfire.
Overnight at a desert camp in Merzouga.
4-Hour Drive
Begin your day with an early wake-up to witness the sunrise over the golden dunes – a truly magical experience. After enjoying breakfast and refreshing shower at the camp, you’ll return by camel ride. Continue your journey through the stunning Tinghir oasis, where you can stroll along the riverbanks, visit Berber villages, and learn about the local way of life.
After visiting the remarkable Todgha Canyons, enjoy lunch at a local café before continuing your drive along the Road of 1001 Kasbahs, heading toward Dades Valley.
Overnight in a charming lodge in Dades Valley, with dinner provided.
6-Hour Drive
After breakfast, drive through the Valley of Roses toward Kalaa M’Gouna, where you may visit a local rose water cooperative. Continue to Skoura Oasis, known for its lush palm groves, before reaching Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here, you’ll have lunch and explore the ancient kasbah, which has been a backdrop for numerous Hollywood films.
In the afternoon, cross the Atlas Mountains via Tizi N’tichka Pass, passing traditional Berber villages. Finally, you’ll arrive in Marrakech by late afternoon. Your driver will take you to your riad or hotel.

Louise T2024-11-23Verified Personal tour not a tourist trap A throughly enjoyable day in the beautiful Atlas Mountains. We were quite nervous about the term trek but our guide Mouad reassured us. Learning about the country and culture was fascinating. His passion and knowledge of his country and the mountains was evident. The Berber family we visited were so hospitable and provided us with a beautiful meal. We chatted all-day and learned so much. His English was fantastic. The whole tour was very personal it didn’t feel like a manufactured tourist tour. The walk was just the right length and pace for us. He pointed out things of interest without too many stops. Greg S2024-11-13Verified Superb trek in Morocco A fantastic trek with a superb lunch cooked and eaten in the house of a friendly local family. It was a great day to spend getting to see some of the “real” Morocco. Would definitely recommend this as a trip - far better than lounging around in your hotel! Mark M2024-11-07Verified Half day hike at Amizmiz We went on a half day hike above Amizmiz which was beautiful. Our walking guide Mouad is a truly inspiring individual whose conversation was incredibly engaging. We talked about everything from family life to the earthquake to the history of Morocco to the flora and fauna and so much more! Mouad is a beautiful character whose knowledge of the area was very complete. We returned to our hotel invigorated and excited by the experience. We recommend the morning time when it's cooler (this week was unseasonably hot). The area is stunningly beautiful and our experience unforgettable. Maps8238452024-09-05Verified Atlas Mountain with Mo, James and Flo Mouad was an incredible guide! We had the most amazing experience, trekking through the mountains and the forest with Mo. We also stopped at a local families home to share mint tea and delicious Tagine!Mo explained everything about his country, his hometown, politics and economy, culture and food, the invasion of France and of course how that changed with Morocco gaining independence. It was also incredibly moving to hear what was lost during the earthquake and heart warming to hear how everyone has come together in the wake of it to support and rebuild their communities.Big thank you again for this amazing experience during our honeymoon!
