Easy
Embark on an unforgettable 3-day journey from Marrakech to Fes, exploring Morocco’s breathtaking landscapes. This adventure takes you through the majestic Atlas Mountains, past ancient kasbahs, and into the heart of the Sahara Desert. Experience the beauty of the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, enjoy a camel trek at sunset, and sleep under the stars in a traditional desert camp. This tour perfectly blends adventure, culture, and relaxation, creating lasting memories for history lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, and desert seekers alike.
6-Hour Drive
Your adventure begins with a scenic drive through the Atlas Mountains, crossing the famous Tizi n’Tichka pass. Along the way, we will stop at traditional Berber villages where you can immerse yourself in local culture and admire the rugged beauty of the landscape.
The highlight of the day is visiting Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO-listed kasbah featured in many famous films. After exploring this fascinating site, we continue to the Dades Valley, known as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs.” On our way, we pass through El Kelaa M’Gouna, renowned for its annual rose festival and rose cultivation. If you’re visiting during spring, we will stop at a woman cooperative where natural rose-based products are handcrafted.
We continue our journey and arrive in the Dades Valley for an overnight stay in a charming hotel. Enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner to end the day.
4-Hour Drive
After a hearty breakfast, we begin our drive through the scenic Dades Valley to the oasis town of Tinghir. Here, enjoy a guided walk through the lush palm groves, learning about the town’s rich history, including its Jewish heritage.
Next, we visit the dramatic Todra Gorge, where towering cliffs create a narrow, lush valley. Take a leisurely walk, soaking in the stunning scenery.
In the afternoon, we continue to Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara. Experience a camel trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, where you can enjoy a magnificent sunset from the saddle of your camel.
Arriving at your desert camp, you’ll have the opportunity to savor a traditional Moroccan dinner and enjoy live Berber music around the campfire, spending the night under the stars.
8-Hour Drive
Wake up early to witness the spectacular sunrise over the Sahara dunes—a moment you’ll never forget. After a hearty breakfast, we begin our journey back to Fes, passing through the scenic Ziz Valley, famous for its expansive date palm groves.
We stop in Midelt for lunch at a local restaurant, where you can sample authentic Moroccan cuisine while taking in the serene mountain surroundings.
Continuing our journey, we drive through the Berber village of Azrou, known for its ancient cedar forests. Here, you’ll have the chance to meet the playful Barbary apes that inhabit the area, a fun experience for both kids and adults.
Next, we head to Ifrane, often called “the Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style architecture and cooler climate. Take a short break to enjoy a coffee at a local café before continuing to Fes.
As we drive through the lush Middle Atlas Mountains, we arrive in Fes by late afternoon, where your 3-day Marrakech to Fes Desert Tour ends.

Louise T2024-11-23Verified Personal tour not a tourist trap A throughly enjoyable day in the beautiful Atlas Mountains. We were quite nervous about the term trek but our guide Mouad reassured us. Learning about the country and culture was fascinating. His passion and knowledge of his country and the mountains was evident. The Berber family we visited were so hospitable and provided us with a beautiful meal. We chatted all-day and learned so much. His English was fantastic. The whole tour was very personal it didn’t feel like a manufactured tourist tour. Greg S2024-11-13Verified Superb trek in Morocco A fantastic trek with a superb lunch cooked and eaten in the house of a friendly local family. It was a great day to spend getting to see some of the “real” Morocco. Would definitely recommend this as a trip - far better than lounging around in your hotel! Mark M2024-11-07Verified Half day hike at Amizmiz We went on a half day hike above Amizmiz which was beautiful. Our walking guide Mouad is a truly inspiring individual whose conversation was incredibly engaging. We talked about everything from family life to the earthquake to the history of Morocco to the flora and fauna and so much more! Mouad is a beautiful character whose knowledge of the area was very complete. We returned to our hotel invigorated and excited by the experience. We recommend the morning time when it's cooler (this week was unseasonably hot). The area is stunningly beautiful and our experience unforgettable. Maps8238452024-09-05Verified Atlas Mountain with Mo, James and Flo Mouad was an incredible guide! We had the most amazing experience, trekking through the mountains and the forest with Mo. We also stopped at a local families home to share mint tea and delicious Tagine!Mo explained everything about his country, his hometown, politics and economy, culture and food, the invasion of France and of course how that changed with Morocco gaining independence. It was also incredibly moving to hear what was lost during the earthquake and heart warming to hear how everyone has come together in the wake of it to support and rebuild their communities.Big thank you again for this amazing experience during our honeymoon!
